Brian Austin, the founder of Brian Austin Photography, is a Houston based photographer passionate about creating photographic images that tell a story. Warehouses, restaurants, and shopping malls appear, on the surface, to be prosaic, but to Brian, these structures say something about the builders, the people that operate the facilities, and individuals who shop and eat there. Capturing the beauty and essence of architectural projects is something few can do, but Brian accomplishes this for clients big and small. He has worked for firms such as Aloft and Element Hotels, Children’s Learning Adventure, CBRE, Matthews RE, Morning Star Builders, Lochner, and many others. His photographs grace the websites of some of the largest real estate and property management companies in the country, and stunning photos of the recent solar eclipse appeared on Houston’s Channel 2 News.
Brian has had a lifelong love for all things photography, beginning his involvement in ‘picture taking’ in the era of photographic films and darkroom development. This love runs deep, and Brian still operates his personal film darkroom at his home in Katy, Texas. However, for his commercial clients, Brian applies the very best high technology tools and techniques. His camera equipment is among the best available, and he holds an FAA 333 exemption, allowing him to fly UAV drones to take stunning aerial shots. Using a DJI Phantom 4 Professional drone, he captures some of the most elegant photos of commercial building projects his clients’ have seen.
Moreover, his photographic enterprise is not limited to architectural projects. Group events, celebrity signings, and conference are just a few of the type projects Brian undertakes. “What’s important,” commented Brian, “is to take photographs that put the viewer right there in the event; right in the middle of the excitement.” Concert and event managers for celebrities such as Deandre Hopkins, Emmitt Smith, Matt & Kim, Booker T, and Jamie Lynn Spears call on Brian to photograph their clients’ appearances.
Following his 2014 graduation from Houston Community College, Brian completed a photography internship with the Houston Press, after which he launched Brian Austin Photography in 2015. He and his wife Jamie live and work in Katy, Texas, a beautiful suburb west of Houston.
